Abstract
[Deranged passions and scientific illusions in Charles Darwin’s “The Expression of the Emotions”]. Charles Darwin used, in his “science” of the expression of the emotions, various means and sources, chasing above all, in the research on the human expressions, spontaneity and lack of conditioning. Therefore, he opted for publishing photographs of the human expressions instead of drawings: in them the emotional conditioning of observer could more probably be transferred. Among the means which could help in seizing the spontaneity of expression, Darwin indicated the observation of the insane, because they have strongest passions and no control over them. But in the very rich route of Darwin’s research, photography seldom gives genuine fruits. The observation of insane reveals in the end unforeseen faces, and even photography’s limited ability to seize emotions and insanity.

Sommario
Charles Darwin utilizzò, nella sua “scienza” dell’espressione delle emozioni, strumenti e fonti diverse, inseguendo soprattutto, nello studio delle espressioni umane, autenticità e mancanza di condizionamenti. Per questo scelse di pubblicare fotografie delle espressioni umane invece di disegni, nei quali era più probabile che si trasferisse il condizionamento emotivo dell’osservatore. Tra i mezzi utili a cogliere l’autenticità dell’espressione, Darwin indicava l’osservazione dei malati di mente, perché hanno passioni più forti e nessun controllo su di esse. Ma nel percorso ricchissimo della ricerca darwiniana la fotografia spesso non offre frutti autentici; l’osservazione dei malati di mente mostra infine volti inattesi, e anche la capacità limitata della fotografia di cogliere emozioni e follia saggio illustra i tratti salienti delle reti scale-free (invarianza di scala, small world e struttura) e mostra la loro importanza per comprendere il fenomeno delle fake news nella società contemporanea.
